Career choice: Dare to dream

Dare to dream! Career choice is a long range game.

The best time to decide is when you are young, when you don’t have many obligations and background experience.

If you keep your career flexible, if you expand your circle of friends, if you keep connection with them, if you love what you do, if you dare to dream, if you follow your dreams, your career options will grow with time. Then you will have your dream job. The work ocean is big. You may find dolphins and whales, corl reefs and sharks. Think good, dare to dream – and it will be good. One good thought has more power then 10,000 bad ones.

When choosing a career, you might be tempted to look into short-term issues, seek a job with the highest initial salary, move to another job each year to keep the salary going up, working crazy hours to get some more money, and more. Be warned – those decisions has their side-effects.

Life has their ups and downs. To keep going, your career must nurture your deepest needs – for friendship, for appriciation, and more. The career must intrest you – otherwise you won’t be good at it and you will have to invest a lot of emotional energy just to keep going. A good career choice must be connected to the other parts of your life – to your skills and hobbies. On the long range, your career choice effects the friends you have, the place you live, your health, satisfaction and well-being.

It’s the easiest to follow your dreams from the beginning. It takes more energy to change an existing career, when you aleady have obligatins, but it’s possible. For me, to dare to dream is a way of life. Then, follow my dreams and realize them.

What does my dreams mean? The real answers – are found within ourselves. Few weeks ago I got Dream-Minder - a new software which jently reminds me to dare to dream.
